Free counselling is available from any of these agencies:

- Victim Support 0800 842 846 24/7. Telephone contact. People may need to leave their details and a volunteer will ring them back.
- Samaritans 0800 726 666 24/7. National telephone listening and support service staffed by volunteers.

Offering a free Government funded crisis counselling service for anyone affected by the Christchurch earthquake:
1 - 24/7 telephone support for Christchurch residents and others outside Christchurch
2 - face-to-face counselling for those outside of Christchurch.

- The Canterbury Chinese Support Group is offering help and advice for Chinese people affected by the earthquake. Its headquarters is at the Rewi Alley Centre in Riccarton, Christchurch.
